Six CV Mistakes You Could Be Making
1- It’s your memoir
Employers go through a lot of job applications, and your long CV is just making it harder for them. Aim for a short and succinct CV. An ideal one does not exceed two pages in length.
2- Dishonesty
We all tweak here and there, however, employers often catch on to the important details. HR Rep, Najat Mohammed, recommends being honest about your strengths and the areas that need more attention.
“ You should always show a willingness to learn,” says Mohammed.
3- You skip out on the important details
When it comes to working experience, it is important to detail your roles at each position. This is because sometimes you can work under a specific department, but have different duties.
4- You don’t customize it
If you are applying for jobs in various fields, it is important to customize your CV
highlighting the requirements of each job.
5- You don’t proofread it
Mistakes happen. However, citing yourself as detail-oriented when you have a few
spelling mistakes is just ironic. Make sure to proofread your CV a couple of times before
submitting it.
6- It’s … not very appealing
It’s 2020, you have no excuse for that visually displeasing resume. Luckily, TBD is
providing a few CV templates you could use :)!
